About UsShortly after a 2 week missions trip to the Philippines in 2009 Duane & Jenny established Hands of Hope Ministries. It was during this visit that they felt the call of God to return to the Philippines long term.
The purpose of Hands of Hope Ministries is twofold:
1. Spiritually - bringing people into an encounter with God
2. Practically - help the poor and needy
Poverty in the Philippines is widespread. Nationwide, one can compare poverty incidence rates of 21.5% in urban areas to 50.7% rate in rural areas.
An estimated 11 women die every day from complications of child birth. Most maternal deaths occur due to extensive bleeding, obstructed labour and widespread infection. Many of these could be prevented if more women had access to prenatal care and health facilities had more skilled birth attendants. Moreover, facilities in impoverished and far-flung areas need more comprehensive emergency obstetric services.
But the message of the Gospel shows that the poor are valuable in the eyes of God. Our vision is to see the Philippines transformed to God's Kingdom values in all aspects and at all levels of society, bringing freedom and healing to people living in poverty.
